We try to focus attention on quarterly special projects as shown above, but we will always take items for Safe Haven.  There is a donation bin that looks somewhat like a tall kitchen trash can at Stitch Niche usually placed close to the candy dish! Anytime you have too much for the bin at Stitch Niche you can always contact me at sherrygsmith5@gmail.com and we can make arrangements to meet somewhere. You can look on their website to see any special needs they may have but Safe Haven can always use basic toiletry items, feminine products and household items.  https://www.safehaventc.org/donate-items

Other ways to help Safe Haven is to do some spring cleaning and take any clean used clothing or household items to the Berry Street location:

Berry Good Buys
1701 W. Berry Street
Fort Worth, TX 76110
Mon – Fri 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

3rd QUARTER FOCUS – School Supplies!

I know it seems like schools just started their summer vacation but by the time we gather and deliver school supplies it will be time for them to start a new fall term (mid August). If you know any teachers, they will tell you last year was a tough year to be a teacher or a student.  COVID knocked a huge hole in the day to day learning routines. Let’s do what we can to help them get back to normal!

I’m including a link as an example of school supplies requested at one elementary school but you understand what’s needed – scissors, glue, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, pencil bags, tissues, hand sanitizer, zip lock bags, backpacks, etc. Please be as generous as possible!

We do have an exciting new adventure that Debra Bessent has been working to coordinate with the Girl Scouts.  We will be sponsoring a needlework class to teach a class of Girl Scouts how to cross stitch. They will have two small projects kitted and ready to stitch at this class! Once they complete the class they will have earned their Textile Artist Badge which your FW EGA will provide to them! We currently have volunteers for teaching and assisting with this project that will take place in August. A special thank you to those that donated supplies!

At right, you’ll see some of our recent Safe Haven donations. Thank you so much to all members who continue to donate.
